The Town of Wadena is lending a hand to help citizens get their yards ready for winter, by offering a tree branch pickup in the community free of charge.

On September 27th and 28th, the town will be collecting tree branches from citizens that are left on the front of their property, just like a regular garbage day pickup. The 27th is scheduled for the west side of Wadena, while the 28th is set for the east side.

Ferne Hebig, Chief Administration Officer of the Town of Wadena, commented on the benefits the program has. She said, "There's a lot of people who may be able to trim their trees, but they don't have a truck or any means to haul everything in. So it's to help them out and mainly to keep the town looking neat and tidy."

The tree branch pickup is free of charge for piles that stay under a half-ton limit. If the pile exceeds this amount there will be a fifty dollar charge. Also, Branches cannot be larger than 4 feet in length or 3 inches in diameter.

All the branches are then brought to the landfill to be chipped or burned.
