The Town of Wadena is installing a security system at its rec centre, which has been broken into multiple times since December.

Liquor and cash belonging to community groups was taken, and the rec centre’s doors were damaged, CAO Fern Hebig said.

“We’re just trying to help them out and keep their stuff safe and secure.”

A $250 gift certificate the town won at the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association conference will go towards the $679 cost of a security system for the doors.

Four outside cameras will cost between $3,000 and $6,000, Hebig said.

The system will hopefully be fully operational in the next few weeks, she said.

RCMP have charged four suspects in relation to the break-ins, including one adult and three youth, she said.
