The Town of Wadena hopes to find sponsors for free public swim days.

The idea came from one of the head lifeguards, CAO Ferne Hebig said.

“We thought, you know, that would actually be a great idea. It’ll reduce barriers to entry for people who can’t maybe regularly afford swim fees, and we’re hoping you can develop a good relationship between the community and the sponsors and a little fundraising at the same time.”\

The cost of an adult season pass is $95 and a family season pass is $180. A 12-swim punch card is $50 and a daily pass is $5 per person or $15 per family.

A person, group or business could provide various levels of sponsorship, from a Toonie Tuesday to a full free public swim complete with free ice cream and a barbecue.

“If we could do every Sunday, that would be fantastic,” Hebig said.
