Criminal charges will not be laid against Senator Pamela Wallin following a nearly three year long investigation by the RCMP.

Wallin's expenses came under attack prior to her being removed from the upper house by the senate committee that eventually passed her file over to the Mounties.

A number of fishy looking expense claims were scoured through throughout the investigation but on Thursday the nation's police force said their case was closed and they would not be proceeding with charges.

She has repaid almost $150,000 in expenses.

Wallin says she's relieved it's is over, and she will be speaking with her lawyer about what to do next.

Her lawyer has said the last three years has been hard on the Wadena born former broadcaster including seeing both her parents pass away before she could be cleared.
