The town of Wadena Celebrated the start of the construction of the new addition to their Rec Centre.

Construction starts on August 27th and is expected to be complete in the spring of 2019. The addition consists of 4 new dressing rooms, a referee room, along with a mechanical room and janitorial room. All the new features being added will allow the community host more tournaments throughout the year, especially with hockey season fast approaching. 

The estimated cost of the addition is over 1 million dollars and the budget for the project is sitting around 945 thousand dollars. Although the cost may be adjusted slightly through the building process and sponsorships received. The Mayor of Wadena Greg Linnen stated that the town does not want to incur any unwanted expenses.

Another feature of the new addition is that if the original recentre is damaged or unable hold a stable structure, The addition can be separated and added to a new building if the occasion ever does arise. And with hockey season fast approaching, the Mayor says the community is excited about the new addition.
