It was an interesting start to August long weekend for the Wadena Fire Department.

At 7:10pm on Friday, crews were sent out to tackle a vehicle that burst into flames on Highway 5 west of Kuroki.

Upon arriving at the scene, the flames were quickly put under control by firefighters and was extinguished shortly after.

Due to heavier traffic, the highway was blocked for safety of the crew as well as passing vehicles.

The highway was re-opened in full after around 45 minutes.

No one was injured.
