With everyone in the community of Humboldt and area affected by the tragic bus accident involving the Humboldt Broncos, it came as no surprise that a vigil held at the Elgar Peterson Arena on Sunday night was filled to capacity.

An emotional 80-minute ceremony saw speeches from Mayor Rob Muench, Humboldt Broncos President Kevin Garinger, and Broncos' Team Chaplain Sean Brandow. As well prayers were given and hymns were sung out as the full house inside the Uniplex starting the healing process together.

Many of the seats were filled by families in Humboldt Minor Hockey, as well as former players from the Humboldt Broncos, and a half dozen members of the current Broncos squad. That included two players who were on the bus in Matthieu Gomercic and Nick Shumlanski.

A live stream also helped to include the overflow crowd at the Humboldt Collegiate Institute gymnasium, the curling rink, and elementary schools.

Many notable names and familiar faces were also in attendance at the EPA. The hockey community saw people like Don Cherry, Ron MacLean, Sheldon Kennedy, Todd McLellan, and Glen Gulutzen.

Also seated on the floor was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was not available to the media while in Humboldt.
