On December 15th, 2018 at 2:10 pm Humboldt Lanigan RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a train and a pickup truck in Humboldt. The collision occurred on Highway 5 east and Bruce Street at the rail crossing. EMS, Fire, and RCMP all attended. The 73-year-old driver of the truck was transported by EMS to the Humboldt District Health Centre for treatment. Injuries are unknown at this time. The crossing and highway 5 were shut down for approximately 10 minutes, both are now open. There was no damage to the train, the truck suffered severe damage and was not drivable. The matter is still under investigation by RCMP, and no charges have been laid at this time.
