A man facing charges in a construction zone crash that killed three teens from Carrot River and injured a traffic flagger is headed to trial next year.

Normand Lavoie from Winnipeg is facing three counts of criminal negligence causing death and an additional charge of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The three boys were returning home from a football camp on May 3, 2015, when Lavoie, driving a semi, crashed into their car from behind.

The force of the crash propelled the car into a truck, which then hit the flagger, who was seriously injured in the collision as well.

A trial date has been set for June 12, 2017, in Melfort.
