Nia Eastman, the 7-year-old girl who had been the subject of an Amber Alert on Thursday has been found dead.
Inspector Jennifer Ebert addressed the media at a press conference at 1:45pm to state the tragic news.
Eastman was found at a residence in Choiceland at around 12:45pm.
Ebert noted that Eastman's father, Adam, picked her up from school on Wednesday. He was supposed to drop Nia off at home with her mother at 7:00pm, but that never happened.
Police found an abandoned vehicle belonging to Adam Eastman at 10:00pm Wednesday near Smeaton - about 20 minutes west of Choiceland.
After Nia wasn't returned home, an Amber Alert was issued shortly after 4:00am on Thursday.
An earlier update from police on Thursday noted that they had found Adam Eastman dead from apparent self-inflicted wounds at around 5:30am.
