Canada Day celebrations are being amped up in the area as the nation turns 150 years-old and the town of Wakaw is set to join in the fun.

The day gets kicked off with a pancake breakfast, and a slo-picth tournament, and kids activities take place in the afternoon.

Community Developer Erin Standish talked about the main stage entertainment.

"We have a line-up starting at 11:30 with Ida Rose Wilde and Malcolm Foster followed by Amanda Goller, local dancers, Gaudry Girls, and Craig and Nelson Brunanski, " said Standish. "The evening is going to end with some pretty awesome fireworks and a cabaret at the rink with Wonderland Party Band out of Regina."

Tickets for the cabaret are $25 an adult and $20 for 13 and under.

Standish said they are taking the celebrations up a notch for Canada's special year, "Each year we do something small between ourselves; the town, and the regional park, however this year we wanted to go all out and throw the best party they could."

Town council extended their thanks to all of the volunteers that step up this year to make their Canada Day celebrations bigger and better.
