The town of Lanigan has received a financial boost in their water treatment plant update.

The Government of Canada as well as the Government of Saskatchewan have invested over $2 million each into the drinking water system as well as the wastewater treatment system in Lanigan.

Mayor Andrew Cebryk describes the project a little further.

"It's a $6.4 Million project to expand the lagoon and upgrade the water system by digging two wells, and installing a pipeline from the wells to the water plant."

Mayor Cebryk explains why Lanigan received this funding.

"We're having great difficulty in producing water which falls under the regulation." Mayor Cebryk describes the time frame for the upgrades.

"Hopefully we'll be able to start the lagoon by the end of July. Once we've finished by this fall and the water plant we'll hopefully be able to start as soon as possible with he digging of the two wells and putting in the pipeline and doing the work that has to be done in the water plant."

7 other communities are receiving similar financial contributions in the province.
