Selling cookies has turned into an award for Tim Hortons in Humboldt.

The local franchise of the coffee shop turned in the highest percentage of sales during Smile Cookie Week in September.

Owner Dan Grywacheski says that they had the best sales in their region of stores.

"Our store was awarded for the most smile cookies sold as a percentage of our sales for the week," he explained. "We have 51 stores in our region between Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and we were number one in our region."

"It says a lot to our community, going up against bigger centres like Saskatoon, so we are very proud of that."

Grywacheski added that it proves when people come together, they can make things happen.

"When we are up against the big centres, we don't really feel like we can compete. When we come out on top, it really perks us up and makes everybody feel like we can compete with them."

Tim Hortons sold the smile cookies for seven days at a cost of one dollar each. All proceeds from the cookies went to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.

A new record was set for the Humboldt location, with 7,465 cookies sold. In four years of partnering up with the HDHF, Tim's has donated over $19,000.

Grywacheski says that they had no shortage of support in setting a new benchmark this year.

"Our management team here are super proud of our team. There is no doubt we have the best team and we are very happy for them," he noted. "We couldn't do it without the support of the community and the hospital foundation, they helped out a lot this year."

He continued, saying that they like to support the HDHF due to their massive presence in the area, serving a region of over 30,000 people.

"Everybody wins."
