I was actually trying to hide because I thought there was a good chance I was getting arrested, my kids raised a lot of money, said Ms. Pisz.

The challenge to the students was to help raise money for Telemiracle, the reward, for the class who raised the most, was their teacher got arrested and they were free to have a class party.

The total amount of money raised from Humboldt Public School was $1,386, while $400 came from the grade four class.

"People were dumping their piggy banks on my desk. Every day from the beginning of the competition they would bring in more money. The generosity from the kids and their parents was astounding. On the last day, they brought another $200 just to make sure that we had it secured."

Ms. Pisz was later released on good behaviour.
