Family swim time just became a lot more festive this Sunday.

The Humboldt Aquatic Centre was host to a "Help the Hungry" Swim, and the Humboldt Broncos were there to help get swimmers into a holiday frame of mind.

Public Relations and Game Day Co-ordinator for the Broncos, and Administrative Clerk for the City of Humboldt, Jocelyn Doetzel, says the Broncos will be helping to collect non-perishable food items at the swim for the Humboldt Food Bank.

Doetzel says she believes this is the first year the Broncos have been involved in this type of event at the pool.

"I think it'll be a great addition to the event and hopefully draw some more people in too," she says.

Families were welcome to attend the family swim for only $5, and singles can swim for $2, with the contribution of non-perishable food items.

Santa also joined the Broncos in delighting young swimmers and was there for pictures and to give out candy canes.
