It was 2009 when Humboldt made it into the top five finalists for Kraft's Hockeyville, 10 years later, Humboldt and the Elgar Petersen Arena will try and make another run for the $250,000 arena upgrade prize.

Humboldt and the EPA have been put up for nomination in the contest that sees communities rally together in an attempt to be crowned Hockeyville.

The primary portion of the contest is based on story submissions and rally points. A panel of judges evaluate stories submitted by citizens of the community, which is accumulated towards 80% of the criteria. The final 20% is based on community rally activity. Rally points are accumulated by adding notes or uploading photos and videos of the arena and community, sharing the community page on Twitter, and reacting to the community's content gallery.

In a story posted on Humboldt's and the EPA's page for Kraft Hockeyville, it states "Humboldt has endured, Humboldt has heart, we aren’t just the handle #HumboldtStrong, we are literally a special kind of strong here, not just because of tragedy, but the heart of this community that is truly untouchable."

Anyone is able to create a profile to submit a story or accumulate rally points to help boost Humboldt's chances on once again becoming a finalist for the $250,000 arena upgrade award. All runner-up finalists will receive $25,000 in arena upgrades.
