Each academic year at St. Peter's College, an anticipated highlight is the Medieval Feast. It's an evening of entertainment, historical re-enactment, and of course, feasting. In a nod to medieval times, the feasters use no utensils, but dig into the chicken, the salads, and vegetables with just their fingers and an ample finger bowl. It's an evening where college students sit with faculty and the monastic community to share in laughter, music and good food on the eve before Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent.

The students come adorned in costumes to honour their ceremonial king and queen. This year Cole Bauml and Rebecca Godhe wore the crowns while the court jester, Dr. Elaine Hulse, introduced them to the masses. The night is never complete until Benedictine Brother Kurt van Kuren pulls out his guitar and performs a musical number, most often inspired by Game of Thrones. College Advisors Alison Hinz and Matthew Washkowsky served the masses, all overseen by Fr. Paul Paproski.

Father Paul explains that the Medieval Feast has been a fixture for twenty years, "The Feasts first started in the guest area of the College; they have since moved to the Jerome Assembly room of the Abbey. Colleen Fitzgerald, our College President twenty years ago, started them. We were so inspired by her work and her creativity, we decided to continue the Medieval Feast which we usually hold a day before Ash Wednesday."

Over the years, hundreds of students, staff, faculty, the monastic community, and any guests lucky enough to be at the Abbey prior to Lent have partaken in the food and festivities.
