St. Peter's College in Muenster is holding their orientation day Friday which is a monumental day for all students.

Likely a much more special day for Sydney Waldner. She will be the first student at the college to take classes living with Down Syndrome.

Her mother, Christy said it's a special feeling to have her daughter follow her older sisters' paths.

"It's pretty incredible, all our other daughters had the opportunity to attend post secondary and that's the same wish that we had for Sydney. That she would have an opportunity to also have that option to attend post secondary and with St. Pete's so close in our community it's just perfect."

Christy, also a St. Peter's alumni says working with the College has been a great experience.

"It was great, we worked primarily with Maury Wrubleski with Student Services and he was fantastic. We basically went in, pitched the idea, he was totally on board. He did the work, he talked to administration, talked to the instructor, he was just absolutely incredible to work with."

As for Sydney herself, she is excited for art classes, her first day is next Thursday although they will attend the orientation day at the school.
