A long time running adult choir is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

St Peter's Chorus was started back in 1967 under the direction of Al Gerwing and has continued to this day.

Current Director Maxine Moore tells us more about the group ahead of their big weekend.

"Our numbers range around the 50 mark and we represent people from 11 different communities and different walks of life and basically all ages. We have members that represent about five or six different decades, from their 20's up to their 80's so it's really a wide variety of abilities."

Moore says they really have had solid support and performed for hundreds of hours over the half century.

"We've had a really good relationship with the community, with St. Peter's Abbey and the College, it's a wonderful history. We've presented all different kinds of music, not just sacred, we've done secular music as well."

Friday they are performing in Lanigan, Saturday will be there reunion banquet and on Sunday at three they will perform a concert at St. Peter's Church in Muenster.

"We are inviting former members to come and join us as well," Moore highlighted. "We've got about 16 or 17 that even want to come sing with us so that's great so they will be joining us for some songs as well."

Former members are coming from as far as California, Edmonton and Ottawa.

You can hear more from Moore below in her interview with Bolt FM's Clark Stork.
