With many helping hands St. Augustine's School Community Council is going to receive a profitable refund from the harvest of a canola crop.

Ducks Unlimited donated the land north west of Humboldt, Wednesday the field was harvested, while that was occurring the grade five class from the school learned about the process and conservation.

Ian Stock was one of them, he is looking forward to a new play structure.

"It's getting old and it's small. I think we need new stuff."

Sarah Kuervers is also ready for an upgrade.

"Because the big kids can't play on it and then on the new one there's lots of stuff that the older kids can play on, it's just getting old."

D-U Conservationist Dave Atamanchuk says the S-C-C did a great job putting all their ducks in a row.

"This was land we were getting a hold of but needed some work and it worked out perfectly," he explained at the site. "We have done this in other areas before and thinking of the school program, them looking for funding for their playground to put in a new one, the school committee put it together really quick."

They watched as Dennis Zwarych of JayDee Ag Tech combined the canola field.

Kuervers said she's appreciative of the work done by many to seed and harvest the crop which could bring a profit upwards of $25,000.

"I think that was really nice of them and I'm really excited that if we do get the playground if we get lots of money from this."

D-U will now rework the land to make it habitable for water fowl as well as other animals such as deer, that was the plan when the S-C-C worked the deal this growing season.

Atamanchuk was excited to discuss the process in front of the students.

"To have the kids out here and experience what's happening and how this had to come together, how many people and organizations were involved. I think it's so important for them to understand the importance of community working together and us getting the message out about conservation."

The S-C-C has a goal of $150,000 for the structure, according to the thermometer at the school they are at $50,000.
