The city of Humboldt is ready for a snowstorm....inside.

Today marks the start of a collaborative public art project at the Humboldt and District Gallery and Museum.

Visitors to the museum are welcome to come in and craft a snowflake or two, with the end result being a beautiful array of paper snowflakes, cascading from the ceilings.

Catherine Harrison, the Cultural Programmer with the museum and gallery says everyone of any age is welcome to add to the project throughout the Christmas season.

Harrison says she hopes the event will give residents "a sense of belonging in our institutions and our gallery and our museum by contributing in a real way to an art exhibit."

More than anything, though, Harrison says this type of project is good for the community, simply for the fun and relaxation of the activity:

"It's fun! These things are relaxing. We need to get our hands on something...to just chill out and enjoy ourselves and be a part of something bigger."

Community members are encouraged to drop by the museum and add to the exhibit from now up until January 13th.
