The Quill Lake Trail Twisters welcomed the community to attend a day of fun, sun, and snowmobiling Saturday. The club was celebrating its eighth year hosting the snowmobile rally, and president, Curtis Kangas, says the day was a "fabulous" success and that he couldn't have asked for a better day.

Kangas says the Quill Lake area doesn't always receive the same amount of snow that other neighbouring communities do, and consequently, it hasn't been possible to hold such an event the past couple of years. The snow received in January provided a great start to the snowmobiling season and meant this year's rally could go off without a hitch.

"We haven't had a rally in a couple years, so people were really excited to get out onto our trails and get outside and enjoy the day," says Kangas.

The day's activities included a pancake breakfast, made possible through a partnership with the Quill Lake Legion, and was a new addition this year.

A supper and raffle concluded the day, and Kangas would like to thank the volunteers and sponsors who helped make that possible.

The club received an excellent turnout this year, including 90 riders, 120 pancake breakfast attendees and a supper enjoyed by 175 people. But Kangas says the club isn't too concerned about the "numbers".

"It's about seeing the smiles on people's faces and people enjoying the trails. Getting the numbers that we did was just an added bonus," says Kangas.

The proceeds from the day will go toward keeping the trails and equipment maintained.
