Wadena/Foam Lake RCMP are reminding the public about the rules for passing snow plows.

Sgt. Burton Jones received several calls from the public in December asking about the topic, so he included it in his monthly report to Wadena town council, he told Bolt FM.

When a snow plow is in operation it is supposed to pull over every 10 kilometres to allow drivers to pass.

When passing a snow plow when its lights are flashing, whether it is in motion or pulled over, drivers must not exceed 60 kilometres per hour.

“It’s completely for safety. When a snowplow is in operation it kicks up a lot of snow, as we all know, and it makes it very difficult to see past it,” Jones said.
