The Government of Saskatchewan handed out the hardware for top journeypersons in skilled trades.

The Annual Apprenticeship Awards took place Friday night in Regina, hosted by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.

"I am pleased to celebrate those honoured at the awards," noted Economy Minister Steven Bonk. "I would also like to thank all of those employers who support apprentices and journeypersons in the skilled trades."

Among the awards were the 34 new journeypersons who scored the highest marks on the certification exam in their trade between July 1, 2016, and June 30, 2017.

Braeden Schreiner of Humboldt, a heavy duty equipment technician, was among the 34 honoured, as was Sean Hancock of Govan, who works as a motor vehicle body repairer.

Also earning an award was Dallas Stadnyk of Humboldt, who picked up a Skills Canada Saskatchewan recognition for carpentry.
