Residents of Annaheim are hoping to see a brand new playground for their kids to enjoy soon.

A community fundraiser was held on Friday night, bringing families together at the rink to enjoy a skate night.

"We're raising funds in our community to put in a new playground structure and do some landscaping," says Christine Roberts with the playground committee.

Roberts says that the existing playground is in need of a new look.

"Our current play structure is a wooden-style, and it has seen some better days, so we are looking to do some upgrades to it and are quite excited about that."

Friday's skate night saw some competitive games for the kids, including fastest skater, and fastest lap around the ice. Ring toss and frisbee were played as well, according to Roberts.

The event raised over $1,700 for the playground.
