An increase of COVID-19 cases in Watrous has the Saskatchewan Health Authority issuing a public alert. The Health Authority is urging people to strictly follow public health measures and safety precautions in light of the new cases.

The situation has also prompted a change in visitation practices for Manitou Lodge in Watrous. An SHA release notes, “The decision to restrict family presence is not taken lightly. These measures are in place to keep you, your loved ones, and health care workers safe.  The Saskatchewan Health Authority is asking the public for their support and cooperation in order to contain the spread of the virus.”

Visitation at Manitou Lodge is limited to compassionate care reasons only which includes end of life care, surgery, intensive care, or in the case of Manitou Lodge, long term care residents whose quality of life or care needs are unmet.

The SHA will prohibit visitors from entering the facility unless at least one of the criteria is met. Anyone who is allowed access will need to undergo a health screening including submitting to a temperature check and answering a questionnaire. The measures will stay in place until COVID numbers warrant a return to previous guidelines.
