Saskatchewan Government Insurance says it has reached a settlement with two bars that served a drunk woman who later killed a family of four in a traffic crash.

Catherine McKay pleaded guilty to four counts of impaired driving causing death in the 2016 collision that killed Chanda Van de Vorst, formerly of Watrous, and her family, husband Jordan, and kids Kamryn and Miguire.

McKay is presently serving a 10 year sentence.

The terms of the settlements with the Industrial Kitchen and Lounge Corporation and the company that operated the Crackers Licensed Cocktail & Dining Room will not be disclosed, SGI says.

SGI took legal action in July 2017, and says that they attend to consider doing it in similar cases in the future.
