With the potential for a Canada Post service disruption as early as the beginning of July, Saskatchewan Government Insurance(SGI) is putting a plan in place by reminding customers there are other options available.

Manager of Media Relations with the crown insurer, Kelley Brinkworth explains the other options available in the event of a postal strike.

"If there are some postal service disruptions they're options like online services that can customers can take advantage. Customers are always able to go do business in person with their motor license issuer or their SGI Canada broker and that will remain in affect."

Some transactions can be done online through using MYSGI that allows the use of some online transactions.

Brinkworth also reminds customers to check when their license and plates expire.

"Normally we would be sending out reminders via mail but if their is no mail going out in the event of a disruption then we wouldn't be able to send you those reminders so we just want you to check those and make arrangements to pay or renew because we don't want your insurance to lapse."

There has been no contract since last Summer for over 40,000 employees across Canada including Humboldt.

Negotions are ongoing but reports state the sides are a ways apart on a number issues.
