Residents on the 600, 700 and 800 blocks of 14th Street in Humboldt will be without water longer than expected.

A watermain break on the 700 block was repaired yesterday, but crews discovered a second leak in the area this morning, said Peter Bergquist, director of public works and utilities.

He hopes it’s fixed by the end of the day, but if not work will continue through the weekend.

The blocks will be under a water advisory after the repairs are done.

Residents on the 700 and 800 blocks of 10th Street remain on a water advisory after a watermain broke last Friday.

Breaks typically happen in the fall and spring, with the combination of changing weather moving the ground and aging watermains that may be corroding over time, Bergquist said.
