Members of SEIU-West, the union representing hundreds of Saskatchewan health care support and technical workers voted to accept a contract agreement that puts to an end a multi-year labour dispute. A release from SEIU-West states that 84 percent of its membership voted to accept the contract in a vote that took place between January 11 and 15.

The six-year deal, retroactive to 2017, sees no pay increase for the first two years. A one percent wage increase for one year follows with an additional two percent in each of the subsequent three years. Retroactive pay stemming from the agreement would be paid in a lump sum.

The statement from SEIU-West praised its workers for their patience and solidarity.

“Together we have been successful in demonstrating to SHA, SAHO and our provincial government that collectively we will fight inequity. This has been a long process and we are pleased that we were able to obtain a collective agreement that is acceptable to our membership.”
