Another year of activity on the Bergen farm is currently underway.

Located near Drake, Vic and Chris Bergen farm fewer acres than some area farms, and so they have been able to take care of business in the field.

"Seeding went really well this spring. We only got stuck a few times but got out easy," said Vic. "We finished on Tuesday, so it has been a pretty good run. Now we're just hoping for some rain around here."

Saskatchewan Agriculture released a crop report every Thursday throughout the spring and summer, outlining progress on operations across the province.

Just over 50% of seeding is complete in the Humboldt area, which a bulk of that being done in the past seven days thanks to warmer weather.

The Bergen's stick to a common planting theme each year, which consists of oats, hard red wheat and canola.

Although they have planted their crops and are ready to see them grow once again, there is still plenty going on at their operation.

"We raise elks. It is velveting season, so that takes the next month," noted Vic. "There is spraying to get excited about. We've picked the rocks and we're moving out some grain yet."

Farming, as is tradition with many, has been a lifelong venture for the Bergen family, as Vic has been at the same location throughout his life.
