Seeding progress is continuing in the province with 81 percent of the province's crops planted.

As for east central Saskatchewan, 79 percent of the crop has been planted. The average completion numbers for this time of year is 82 percent, last year 94 percent of the crop was planted by this point.

Seeding is most advanced in the southeast with 95 percent being complete, the southwest is also well ahead at 94 percent. The west-central region is at 80 percent, the northwest is at 76 percent and there is 43 percent of the crop planted in the northeast.

Weather for the most part has been cooperating for producers except in the northeast region where rain has hampered their progress, hence the low completion numbers.

Provincially, topsoil moisture is rated at 11 percent surplus, 75 percent adequate, 12 percent short and two percent very short.

These stats are from the weekly crop report from the provincial government that came out on Thursday.
