School officials and police in Wakaw are pleased to report that a school lockdown has ended without incident.

Wakaw RCMP members were called to the Almightyvoice Education Centre on the One Arrow First Nation at around 12:30pm Thursday because an 11-year-old student had a knife.

The student was secured in the Grade 5 classroom with no other students in the room. The school was subsequently placed in lockdown.

Police were able to successfully end the situation by taking the knife from the student, who was then taken to the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert for assessment under the Mental Health Act.
