Humboldt resident, Dave Hill, got bitten by the scale modelling bug when he started with the hobby five years ago. It would appear Hill has no plans of quitting any time soon, given his obvious passion for the hobby.

Hill was joined by a jovial group of 11 gentleman at the Humboldt uniplex on Sunday. The friendly group of fellas were all enthusiastic members of the Scale Modellers Association of Saskatoon. According to Hill, the group boasts 50-60 members and conducts monthly meetings celebrating the mutual fascination with the hobby of scale modelling. Meticulous attention to detail is needed when building, sculpting and creating scale models of cars, airplanes, armoured vehicles and more and Hill says the group is "having a blast doing it". Hill has been with the club for four out of the five years he's participated in the hobby and hopes this year's annual group pilgrimage to Humboldt will spark interest in newcomers to the hobby. "(We hope) to expose local people to our hobby and to show them the fascinating things we see in it, and hopefully inspire young people to start building models", says Hill.

The hobby has expanded from working with a basic model kit to incorporating other components such as photo-etching materials, resin materials, painting and sculpture that "adds and adds to that kit", explains Hill.
