A supervisor with SaskPower has been handed a large fine after being found guilty for a workplace death in 2014.

Kelvin Rowlett was sentenced in Melfort Provincial Court on Wednesday after he was found guilty on two charges under The Saskatchewan Employment Act.

Rowlett was charged with failing to ensure the health and safety of all workers who worked under his supervision, resulting in death, as well as failing to ensure a jumper cable was used prior to the cutting of an energized shield wire.

On December 20, 2014, a worker was electrocuted while repairing a high-voltage transmission line near Wakaw.

Rowlett was fined $10,000 as well as a $4,000 surcharge for each count.
