SaskEnergy will be performing some flaring work Wednesday morning near the Canalta Hotel in Humboldt.

The work will begin around 7 o'clock.

"We will be just be doing short controlled burn called a flare at our station in Humboldt," explained Senior Communications Officer Casey MacLeod. "The flare will only run for about an hour, maybe less. What we're doing is just basically burning off the gas that is in our pipeline at that location so that we can safely make some pipeline modifications."

MacLeod adds that this is standard work that poses no risk.

"This is the practice that we do anywhere on the SaskEnergy or TransGas system whenever we need to do modifications or system maintenance or any kind of inspection where the gas needs to be removed form the system first."

The Humboldt Fire Department is aware of the work that will be undertaken.

You can hear more from MacLeod below in her statement she provided Tuesday morning.
