Much like the case near Prud'homme last year but not as severe, SaskEnergy is doing some flaring work around the City of Humboldt.

You may have noticed a large flame north of Humboldt Thursday morning, we have reports it could be seen as far as Lake Lenore.

"Just some modifications for safety," SaskEnergy Communications Manager Dave Burdeniuk explained Thursday morning. "We're adding some different features that will allow us to insert our inline inspection tools and these are kind of like our robotic probes that we put into our lines to do safety inspections from the inside of the pipelines."

Burdeniuk says there will be some interruptions of service to rural customers.

"This work will not affect any home owners or small businesses in the area, there are a few rural customers, particularly a couple of grain dryers and some other operations that we had to shut in Wednesday and Thursday. We will be turning everyone back on Friday morning."

The crown corporation is going to be doing more common maintenance east of Humboldt next week.

"It really is just ongoing safety work for us, it's just making sure that our system is able to continue to provide safe and reliable service to our customers. We just have to do a few pipeline modifications both this week and next week."

While the gas is off they are using trailers that are filled with either liquid or compressed gas.
