Sask Party leadership candidate Ken Cheveldayoff visited Humboldt on Monday to knock on the doors of party members.

Humboldt residents expressed pride in their health facility and schools, and realize that while the government doesn't have a lot of money at the moment, balanced budgets are important, he said.

Cheveldayoff bills himself as an experienced grassroots candidate from a rural area who also can win urban seats.

“People felt that they wanted an elected leader - a leader with elected experience. So I was able to talk about my 10 years as a cabinet minister and government house leader and they very much wanted a leader that had some experience.”

The Sask Party must fix mistakes in the last budget, such as applying PST to insurance, and prepare for another 10 years growth, he said.

He said he’s committed to a balanced budget and signed a Canadian Taxpayers Federation pledge to do so in 2019. He would implement a program to reduce the size of government by two per cent annually for the next three years.
