Car seat safety is a top priority for Safe Communities Humboldt & Area.

Thanks to the Lanigan and Humboldt RBC branches, Safe Communities will be hosting free car seat inspections, as Executive Director Shari Hinz explains.

"We held a car seat clinic in May in the community of Lanigan. With our technicians, we have volunteers paired with them so I approached the Royal Bank staff to see if they would be interested in assisting us as volunteers at the clinic. So they did that and as a result, they submitted through their RBC day of service grant program an application on our behalf, which was actually a pleasant surprise to us that they did that."

Safe Communities Humboldt & Area received a $1000 donation from the Humboldt and Lanigan RBC branches.

Hinz tells us how this helps promote car seat safety.

"This donation from RBC allows us to fully operate our car seat safety program for the year. Being community-based, we rely fairly heavily on support from not only our membership but through grant funding and those types of things to operate our various programs."

She tells us where those wanting to get car seat inspections can get them.

"On Saturday, September 16 it's taking place at Colony Chevrolet GMC Buick. From 10 am to 2 pm people can come down, we'll have a number of local technicians on hand that can conduct inspections and make sure that car seats are properly installed."

The inspections will be free of charge to the public.
