Two members of the RM of St. Peter Fire Department have been recognized for their years of service.

James McGraw and deputy chief Steve Patton, both 20-year veterans, received the Governor General’s Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal earlier this year.

“I was pretty pumped. It was kind of an exciting thing. I know a couple of our other members received them as well, so it was a really nice thing to get,” Patton said.

Patton joined the department when it was short on firefighters - and though he had no prior experience, he loved every minute.

“Knowing that service is available in our small town and community, just being able to help out,” Patton said.

McGraw said he enjoys the camaraderie of the department and enjoys helping people.
