Last December the Rose Valley Volunteer Fire Department lost their hall and everything inside ironically enough, to a fire.

Insurance is covering a good portion of their costs but they still needed to do some fundraising and that received a big boost Friday.

Richardson Pioneer contributed $50,000 to the group.

Chief Dale Whitford says this will help them bounce back and return to supporting their community and surrounding rural municipalities.

"We're starting to get back on our feet now getting some equipment and stuff coming in. Obviously things like this today with this announcement from Richardson and this donation, it's a big stepping stone to get back on our feet again and be a viable entity for the communities and the R.M.'s"

Whitford said they literally lost everything in the fire but they have since replaced their quad with a newer much more versatile machine. They are currently searching for a truck both across Canada and in the United States. On the day of the donation, they are meeting to discuss the building plans as well.

Director of Operations for Richardson Pioneer Wadena, Carter Kolybaba says this project is right up the alley of their company's foundation so they donated to the cause.

"Yeah, it's not a Christmas present anybody really wants but when they came to us in January and said what can we do, we put our hands up right away and figured out what we could do and how we could do it. We came forward here today and everyone is pretty excited to be giving $50,000 to them and any time you can give back to a community like this you are going to do it."

The donation is through the agriculture company's foundation that is the giving arm of James Richardson & Sions Limited. Last year they provided $1.65 million in support of 70 community projects across Canada.

You can hear more from both Whitford and Kolybaba in their interviews with Bolt FM's Clark Stork below.

This truck was inside the hall when it went up in flames in December of last year.

The side-by-side on the right was to blame for the blaze when it's battery ignited in the early morning hours of December 19th.
