A special event is going to take place Wednesday afternoon at the Reid-Thompson Library in Humboldt celebrating the diamond anniversary of a children's classic book series.

Way back in 1941 after fleeing Paris on a bicycle made of spare parts just ahead of Hitler's invasion of France, Han A Rey and Margret Rey penned the first Curious George book.

The series that follows the "man in the yellow hat" and a mischievous monkey is still enjoyed by millions today.

Beginning at 1pm Wednesday, the life of the series will be celebrated with some help from the Humboldt Collegiate Institute drama classes.

Games and refreshments are also part of the afternoon event.
