A pair of red high heels has been going around Humboldt over the past few weeks.

The shoes are to raise awareness for the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, as Family Support Coordinator Teryn Ulriksen explains.

"We decided that it would be a really good promotional tool. We've taken it out the last couple of years and had businesses keep it in their window where they have the registration forms available and some posters people can take. It's just something that right there in your face saying 'hey, Walk a Mile is happening' and it's just something that we are doing."

She tells us the history of shoes so far this year.

"It's been to a few different places. It's been to Shoppers, Pharmasave, Scotiabank, RBC, Discover Ford. It's been to quite a few businesses already.

Ulriksen explains a little more about their annual event, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.

"It's on September 6, it's in the evening this year. It's at Civic Park so we'll be doing all kinds of family focused things as well but it will be raising awareness for sexualized violence."

The shoes will be on display at South 20 today for the rest of the week.

That was Family Support Coordinator Teryn Ulrikson, who adds that those wanting to make pledges can do so on the PARTNERS website.
