An RCMP issued firearm and ammunition were stolen from an unmarked police vehicle sometime during the overnight hours between Wednesday, August 8 and Thursday, August 9th.

The 9MM Smith and Weston was discovered missing at 8:00 AM Thursday morning in a hotel parkade in downtown Saskatoon where the unmarked police cruiser was parked.

The suspect is described by the RCMP as a male in his 50's or 60's, with dark/greying hair that is longer in the sides and balding on top. He was also seen wearing a black t-shirt with white printing on the front and a beige or brown sweater.

The firearm is silver in colour with RCMP images etched on the side, has a black grip and the serial number BDX1238.

The Saskatoon Police Service and the Guns & Gangs Unit are currently investigating the theft of the stolen firearm and are advising the public to refrain from handling it in any way, and if found to contact the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
