Farmers in the East Central Region may have to wait to get back into the field after this weekend.

80 millimetres of rain is expected to hit Humboldt and area over the weekend, delaying harvest operations.

Aaron Saretsky farms south east of Muenster.

He talks about harvest progress on his farm.

"It's going fairly good. Canola came off nice, just got wheat and barley left now, so I guess as long as the rain stays away we should be done hopefully within a week or so."

Saretsky farmed 800 acres of wheat, barley, canola and peas this year.

He says all farmers can do when big rains hit is go back to the field when it's dry again.

"It worries everybody a little bit, but there's not much you can do about it. It's in Mother Nature's hands now so you just sit back and see what happens."

Saretsky explains big rains in September aren't rare for this area.

"We had bigger rains than this about 10 years ago, we had an eight inch rain that went through one night in September, that was about 10 years ago now, so it's not uncommon around here to have rains this big at this time of year."

East Central Saskatchewan is reporting 53% of the crop is in the bin.

60% of the crop is in the bin across the Province.
