Rain has often been associated with Humboldt's Summer Sizzler over the past few years and this year might not be any different.

The good news, perhaps, is that the rain will start before things get underway, according to Environment Canada Meteorologist, John Paul Cragg.

"It's not until overnight (Tuesday) that we have heavier precipitation moving into the area. We're looking at 15 to 20 millimetres overnight and then another 10 to 15 millimetres on Wednesday," he noted. "Precipitation starts to die down by Thursday morning."

Cragg added that the system moving in is sweeping across the province to our neighbours to the east.

"All in all we are looking at 25 to 40 millimetres of potential rain, and this is all thanks to a well-developed area of low pressure that is moving through southeastern Saskatchewan into central Manitoba,"

"It's going to be affecting the area for a long period of time," he continued.

While the rain could impact Wednesday's kickoff concert and barbecue, an indoor venue is slated to host the event if the rain does continue into the evening.

As for the rest of the Sizzler, Cragg says that temperatures will be below normal with yes, the potential for more rain.

"Question is how strong that rain will be. It's looking like a cool, cloudy weekend with atleast some light showers at some point - probably through Saturday," he said. "There is a chance of a low bringing in more rain on Saturday. Things should start to get better on Sunday."

Average highs from Wednesday through Sunday are expected to be 17, which is about five degrees cooler than normal temperatures for mid-June.
