The ladies of Prairie Women on Snowmobiles thundered into Humboldt Tuesday night as they reached the halfway point of their 2017 tour.

The group of ten core riders, including Humboldt's Arlene Lockinger began their journey on Sunday in Hudson Bay, that followed stops in Endeavour, Stenen, Canora, Kamsack, Rhein, Yorkton, Theodore, Foam Lake, Wadena, Archerwill, Naicam and Clavet before their last stop of day three.

The Bella Vista Inn hosted a fundraising dinner for the women who take part in the annual event to raise funds and awareness for cancer.

Pat Hausler was a rider back in 2003, she now organizes their events when they travel through the city.

"Showing up in rural communities, there's a lot of little small villages, towns, communities that never see a fundraising event," she explained about what makes this organization so special. "We show up, we meet at the local cafe or a function in the evening or a senior's hall, meet with survivors, meet with local people, that is part of the awareness."

"It's such an emotional trip but very worthwhile, very rewarding," Hausler continued. "If two people in the whole trip that we've made could even say hey, I wonder when the last time I had an exam or when is the last time I saw my doctor, even if it triggers one person to look after themselves it's been very beneficial."

Since their inception they have raised over $2.3 million.

Hausler says Humboldt has had it's fair share of assistance over the years.

"Over the last 17 years Humboldt itself has been amazing, in fact over the years in the district we have had 17 riders come out of this area, two pit crews and three executive members so it's been great. People come out and support us every year, it's to the point where you say can you help us out? They're there."

The journey continues through Lanigan, Watrous, Clavet and Warman on Wednesday, the final leg is Star City on Friday.
