It will cost people a little bit more to visit and stay in Saskatchewan's provincial parks this year.
The provincial government has announced fees are increasing for vehicle-entry permits as well as nightly, seasonal and group
camping.
Spokesperson Mary-Anne Wihack says the increases are almost a victim of their success.
"The changes to the camping this year really are with the increasing costs of doing business our visitation has increased which brings a lot more pressure on those parks as well."
Entry permits are going up by $1-5, nightly camping will see an increase of $1, group camping is up $4-8 while seasonal camping sees a hike of up to $75.
Park user fees cover approximately 60 per cent of operating costs, a balance that has been found sustainable while allowing significant recreation opportunities to park users in the province as the news release states. It calls the increases marginal and says in a release that it's the first hike in park entry fees in more than 10 years.
Since 2007-08, the Government of Saskatchewan has invested over $92 million in upgrades and improvements to their parks.
