Mother Nature has delivered a timely forecast over the next two days, as the province offers free fishing weekend.

Typically, free fishing weekend is held earlier in the summer, however due to the wildfires in Northern Saskatchewan which subsequently put out a large mass of smoke over the province, they added a second weekend for anglers to enjoy.

"Whether you're a novice or an experienced angler, everyone deserves the opportunity to experience fishing at one of the beautiful lakes in our province," says Environment Minister Herb Cox.

Anyone can fish without a license both Saturday and Sunday, however all other regular fishing regulations do apply including possession limits.

Free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks, and those who plan on taking fish out of province will need to purchase a license.
