It's expected to be an exciting weekend on the ice for the Broncos but the fans are also in for a fun pair of nights.

Friday the Weyburn Red Wings visit the Elgar Petersen Arena on Teddy Bear Toss and Christmas Sweater Night.

Marketing Associate Jocelyn Doetzel provides more details leading up to the weekend opener that will see fans chucking stuffed toys on the ice when the green and gold score their first goal.

"The teddy bears will be donated to the Humboldt and District Hospital," she said. "They ask us that any teddy bears we donate are new and have eyes that are sewn in, not buttons or anything just to prevent choking hazards."

Any fans that bring a stuffed animal to the game will receive a voucher for a future game ticket. If the hospital can't use all the donations they will be distributed to other organizations. Fans are also encouraged to wear their best, or worst Christmas sweater to get into the spirit of the season.

Saturday night is "Pack the EPA" night with the Melfort Mustangs visiting Elgar's. Discovery Ford has jumped on as the game sponsor providing a guaranteed 50/50 jackpot plus other great games for fans.

"They have quite a few activities planned, in the first intermission they will have hungry, hungry hippos so it will be an interesting game to play for fans as well as a puck toss and winners for that will receive a diamond detail from Ford," Doetzel explained.

The hungry hippos game is something new that she says is going to be a lot of fun.

"It will be teams of two and I think they will have four teams and one person will be on a snow saucer, the other person will be pushing them towards centre ice grabbing as many pucks as they can, we will see how that goes, it should be interesting."
